CLEVELAND - After more than 20 years in the plastics business, Don Maynard is ready to take on large and small assignments. Maynard, vice president of Nissui Corp., an East Lansing, Mich., manufacturer of small size-reduction units for the plastics industry, is selling his interest in Nissui and starting his own company.
The firm, Size Reduction Specialists Corp., will act as an agent for Nissui and also for size-reduction machinery manufactured by Weima GmbH of Ilsfeld, Germany.
``I started in the early 1970s as Burcham Products, and then ended up selling out to Hercules,'' Maynard said while exhibiting Nissui products at Plastics Fair Cleveland, held June 13-15.
``We were handling extrusion blow molding machinery in those days,'' he said.
Maynard bought an interest in Nissui seven years ago, and has watched the demand for the company's small-piece grinders and size-reduction units.
``I've started this new company to do both large and small,'' he said. ``There weren't very many people doing large pieces, but the Weima machines can do really huge pieces.''
SRS is expected to open July 1, Maynard said.
