CLEVELAND - Grinding has been good to the Exchange Grinding Organization, a spinoff of Akron, Ohio-based Exchange Plastics Corp. After only six months, Exchange Grinding is looking to relocate its post-industrial grinding and cleaning operation, said Kevin Copeland, vice president of Exchange Plastics Corp. and president of Exchange Grinding, at Plastics Fair Cleveland.
``We have had great success, and we are looking for something in the northeast Ohio area that will be in the 50,000-square-foot range to allow us room to keep up with the demand,'' he said.
The grinding operation now is housed in a 30,000-square-foot building in Akron. The firm decided to open the facility to take advantage of the access it had to a wide range of scrap materials through its brokerage business.
Exchange Grinding cleans and grinds 1 million pounds of scrap per month. Installation of a second grinding line is nearly complete, he said.
Before start-up of the grinding plant, Exchange Plastics had been a scrap and recycled resin broker. In recent months, the firm has opened additional sales offices.
