I have to agree with Clare Goldsberry's Perspective, [June 5, Page 14], that many welfare and other poverty persons in the United States do not want to work. The welfare and assistance programs are breeding the wrong attitudes toward responsibility for self. Communism failed because of the social welfare system that did not allow for self-expression and motivation of the individual. That is why welfare states and socialism fail. They are doomed to bankruptcy because they do not harness the greatest asset every nation has - the individual creative potential of the citizen. Welfare states put all individuals on a low common denominator. Welfare states breed poverty and no-skill citizens.
The problem that faces this country and others is not jobs, but lack of awareness, lack of education and people pollution. This is a global market and you have to have a whole world view to be successful.
