ARLINGTON, VA. - The Suppliers of Advanced Composite Materials Association of Arlington named William H. Werst Jr. executive director, succeeding Joseph C. Jackson, who retired after holding the job since 1984. Werst retired in June after 31 years with Dow Chemical Co. In 1987, he was named global ventures director for advanced ceramics, and in 1990, added duties as president and chief executive of the Boride Products Inc. unit in Traverse City, Mich. He held Dow Plastics research-and-development management posts in the United States and Pacific. He also headed Dow dealings in global mining chemi-cals, and concrete and asphalt products.
In a related transaction, Werst acquired Jackson's ownership in the management firm Inter-Associates Inc. It serves SACMA and other association clients. Jackson was involved in Washington-area association management for 22 years.
