SOMERVILLE, N.J. - A new LHLG-150 air quench pelletizer system from American Leistritz Extruder Corp. is designed for mid-range specialty pelletizing where air - not water - is the preferred cooling medium. Most pelletizing cools strands underwater or with a water ring system. The Leistritz system is designed for compounds that are water-soluble, for highly filled materials with poor melt strength, for high-viscosity products such as chlorinated PVC and for high-temperature polymers.
Leistritz of Somerville said the LHLG-150 can process up to 500 pounds an hour.

Modular die made for medical market
AMELIA, OHIO - Black Clawson-Sano Inc. of Amelia has developed a modular die for medical blown film called the Sano Serpentine System.
It is intended for barrier films with three to nine layers. Processing advantages include lower residence time and excellent rheological flow, providing even layer distribution, the company said, which makes the system ideal for thermally sensitive materials such as ethylene vinyl acetate and the new metallocene resins.
The die is a side-fed stack of interchangeable, disk-shaped modules. Air gaps between the modules and heater bands give independent temperature control of each layer and relative temperature isolation.

Corma system boosts production speed
CORMA, ONTARIO - Corma Inc., a maker of corrugating systems for plastic pipe and tubing, said its new, patented Moldblock Quick Return system gives higher production speeds.
In standard corrugators, the mold blocks travel through the machine at a constant speed. With MQR, mold block sections are accelerated by an auger system. The new design means mold block sections do not have to be transported in contact with each other on the return tracks. MQR runs faster and also requires fewer mold blocks, Concord-based Corma said.

Harrel control made for tubing extruders
EAST NORWALK, CONN. - Harrel Inc. of East Norwalk has introduced a diameter control system and a puller/cutter for tubing extrusion.
The Tubetrol system for tubing extruders controls the inside and outside diameter of tubing.
The system fixes the diameters in only two or three minutes, much faster than manual setting, according to Harrel.
The new RC-606 combination puller/cutter is mounted in a single cabinet. The puller is Harrel's Rollerpuller, which uses rubber-covered rolls. The cutter is Harrel's Noclutch.
