BATAVIA, OHIO - Ohio Gov. George Voinovich presented the Governor's Excellence in Exporting Award to Cincinnati Milacron Inc.'s Plastics Machinery Group, among other Ohio companies, during a recent luncheon in Columbus, Ohio. Export sales of the Plastics Machinery Group doubled in 1994, and export-dedicated jobs increased by 16 percent, said Harold Faig, group vice president.
Ohio recently was ranked No. 1 in World Trade magazine's annual list of Top 10 exporting states.
Milacron also announced it shipped its first 300-ton Elektra in June - to date, the largest of its all-electric injection molding machines.
The Elektra line was unveiled at NPE '94 in Chicago.
Service vans added at Van Dron Demag
STRONGSVILLE, OHIO - Van Dorn Demag Corp. field service engineers in the North Central territory are driving vans.
The vehicles are equipped with diagnostic equipment and stocked with commonly required replacement parts. The Strongsville firm plans to expand the vans to other service centers.
In other news, Van Dorn Demag has made the Pathfinder 4500 control available as the third model in its new family of control systems. Earlier controllers, the Pathfinder 100 and Pathfinder 2500, were introduced at NPE '94 in Chicago.
Van Dorn also updated progress on its pending U.S. patent for State Temperature Control.
Thomas Bulgrin, a senior software engineer, invented the technology, which covers using the Pathfinder to control barrel temperature. The company has received a notice of allowance of patent, and a formal patent should be issued in the fall.
Strong pouch market aids GN Packaging
TORONTO - GN Packaging Equipment, a custom builder of plastic pouch and plastic bag making machines, reported a 30 percent increase in sales for the fiscal year ended March 31.
President Gary Gould credited a stronger pouch market, coming out of recession worldwide. Overseas sales accounted for 70 percent of GN's production.
GN, a division of ATR Equipment Industries Ltd. of Mississauga, Ontario, did not release specific financial numbers.
