AKRON, OHIO - The Akron-based Plastic Lumber Trade Association will begin its first nationwide membership campaign this month. PLTA has 94 members, including 26 plastic lumber manufacturers, and has as its goals the improvement and standardization of testing and performance specifications.
Alan Robbins, president of the group and Plastic Lumber Co. of Akron, said the association will work toward creating test and performance methods and specifications for plastic lumber in harmony with the International Organization for Standardization.
He said of particular interest to the group are the areas of flammability, fasteners, long-term creep characteristics and building a database of test values for product improvement.
PLTA will host its annual directors meeting Nov. 16 in Norfolk, Va., and plans meetings March 21 in Orlando, Fla., July 25 in Salt Lake City, and Nov. 21 in New Orleans. Membership applications are available by calling (216) 762-1963.
