SAN FRANCISCO - San Franciso lawyer Mark Mahoney has made his Business Practices for Manufacturers in the Plastics Industry seminars available on tape. The kit comes with four two-sided tapes along with a 53-page booklet, and is a guide for business and commercial contracts.
Mahoney has been actively working with the plastics industry in California for several years, helping to promote legislation and write plastics industry-specific regulations to assist companies in their business.
``Most people in the plastics industry have degrees in other areas, not law,'' said Mahoney. ``This is designed to help them understand contracts and the basics of business law.''
Although Mahoney designed the seminar around California's Uniform Commercial and Civil Codes, the contents can be adapted for plastics companies throughout the United States.
Information in the seminar includes discussion on elements of a contract, damages for breach of contract, boundaries of the written agreement, and change orders and modifications. The booklet contains sample forms to use as contract guidelines.
The kit costs $250. Discounts are available to Society of Plastics Engineers and Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. members. Contact Mahoney at 415 Winston Drive, No. 202, San Francisco, Calif., 94132; tel. (415) 755-9231, fax (415) 664-5304.
