AKRON, OHIO - Janna Industries, a start-up acquisition company based in Akron, has purchased its first plastics products plant, Preform Sealants Inc. of Warrensville Heights, Ohio. Anthony Manna, Janna's chairman and chief executive, declined to disclose what he and partner Patrick James paid for Preform, a privately held firm established in 1971.
According to the Ohio Manufacturers Directory, Preform has estimated annual sales of $10 million. The company produces plastic and rubber gaskets and sealants ``mostly for the automotive industry, but also for original equipment manufacturers and the construction industry,'' said Manna, an attorney and developer.
According to Gary Shawgo, Preform's vice president of manufacturing, the company employs 65 and operates two production facilities totaling 100,000 square feet in Warrensville Heights.
Preform has two primary products, a saturated polyethylene foam die-cut gasket and sealant tape and a butyl fuelant foam core tape.
The company makes the former on its custom-made machinery, and produces the latter rubber tubing on a 6-inch Bonnet extruder and 21/2-inch Hartig, plus other machines designed in-house.
