PHOENIX - The ReedSpectrum division of Sandoz Chemicals Corp. started construction on a 30,000-square-foot facility in Phoenix. The multimillion dollar plant will manufacture thermoplastic color concentrates and will house a laboratory with custom color matching capabilities.
Michael J. Smith, vice president and general manager for the Holden, Mass.-based firm, said ReedSpectrum chose Phoenix for its vicinity to markets in California, Texas and northern Mexico.
The Phoenix site will allow ReedSpectrum to improve service and delivery to its customer base in the Southwest.
The plant is expected to be completed by January, with startup scheduled for March. The company plans to hire 20-25.
Including Phoenix, the company will have five manufacturing plants in Holden; Minneapolis; Albion, Mich., and Law-renceville, Ga.
