DUSSELDORF, GERMANY - Polypropylene is coming to the fast-growing market of plastic pallets and crates, although high density polyethylene still dominates plastic pallets in Europe, according to Erhard Seiler of BASF. Interviewed after his Oct. 3 presentation at ``Plastics High Performance Packaging,'' Seiler said PP gains an advantage because of higher stiffness, especially when using a homopolymer. PP also offers good surface hardness and processability.
Because of good surface properties, it is relatively easy to prevent sink marks under ribs - a challenge when making pallets.
