DALTON, GA. - An Australian-owned bag maker, converter and printer has acquired part of a CT Film plant, giving it a foothold in the North American market. Finewrap USA Inc., a unit of Melbourne-based Finewrap Australia Ltd., until now has had only a sales presence in the United States, with an office in Atlanta. Finewrap Australia owner Greg Rosshandler on Oct. 13 acquired part of the Dalton plant of the CT Film Division of Rexene Corp. of Dallas.
CT will continue to operate film extrusion at the plant, while Finewrap purchased film conversion, printing and bag slitting facilities. The 36,000-square-foot plant is one of four operated by CT Films, which makes polyethylene bags and does film printing and conversion.
``We will be trying to expand capacity and production at the site within the next 12-18 months,'' Rosshandler said.
The company specializes in food and other bags.
CT's other plants are in Harrington, Del.; Clearfield, Utah; and Chippewa Falls, Wis., but none of those facilities is part of the deal.
Rexene of Dallas produces polypropylene resin.
