DUSSELDORF, GERMANY - Sentinel Products Corp. of Hyannis, Mass., has formed an alliance with Ferro Corp. of Cleveland that will have Ferro collecting and recompounding metallocene resin scrap from Sentinel and its customers. Scott Smith, Sentinel chief operating officer, announced the arrangement Oct. 3 at AutoPlas '95 World Congress on Plastics and Rubber in Automotive Applications in Dusseldorf.
Smith said his company's efforts to sell products made with metallocene resins to auto-makers made the alliance necessary. Automakers have expressed a strong desire to use materials that can be recycled, and the alliance with Ferro is a preemptive step since Sentinel sees the auto industry as a potential market.
Ferro has agreed to recompound the polyethylene and polypropylene products at its facility in Evansville, Ind., Smith said.
