Sandretto Plastics Machinery Inc., the U.S. arm of the Italian maker of injection molding machines, has relocated to the Cleveland area from New Jersey. Sandretto said the move will bring it closer to customers. Sandretto has leased a 6,000-square-foot facility in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, for warehousing, a demonstration area, parts, inventory, service, engineering, sales, and administrative offices. Initially, eight people will staff the facility, a Sandretto spokesman said.
The relocation marks the second time Sandretto Plastics Machinery has moved in the past two years. In 1993, the company moved from Farmington Hills, Mich., to the Cedarville, N.J., headquarters of General Machinery Co. Through a deal between the companies, General Machinery assembled a small number of Sandretto injection presses.
That agreement has not ended, but it is inactive at this time, the Sandretto spokesman said. Sandretto's New Jersey office is closing, he said.
Based in Turin, Italy, Sandretto Industrie Srl built 1,200 injection molding machines in the past year, under the names Sandretto and Metalmeccanica.
Besides sales and service, Sandretto said the new facility, near Cleveland Airport, will be used for customer training. Sandretto announced the move on Nov. 3. It was effective immediately.
