MINNEAPOLIS - Steinwall Inc., a custom injection molder and mold maker in Minneapolis, recently moved into its newly purchased plant. The 52,000-square-foot facility houses the production molding presses in a building-within-a-building concept, said Maureen Steinwall, owner and president.
The design gives Steinwall ``white room'' molding capabilities because all of the auxiliary equipment is outside the molding area. Positive air pressure in the molding area eliminates contamination in a temperature-controlled and clean environment.
The facility houses 19 presses, two of them new Van Dorn Demags, with clamping forces of 28-300 tons. Steinwall specializes in precision, short-run production for the appliance, electronics, computer, medical, consumer and industrial compo-nents industries.
The company also has prop-erty to expand its plant to 100,000 square feet. The firm employs 75. It offers full-service mold making and secondary operations, including decorating and assembly.
The firm recently received the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc.'s Award of Excellence at the Midwest Conference in Cleveland.
