PITTSBURGH-Arco Chemical Co. opened a plant in South Charleston, W.Va., in early November to produce its new Acclaim class of polyols for the polyurethane industry. Arco, based in Newtown Square, Pa., introduced the polyols during the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association fall meeting, held Nov. 4-8 in Pittsburgh.
Acclaim is a high-performance, high-molecular-weight class of liquid polyether polyols that improve physical properties and processing compared with conventional polyoxypropylene polyols, according to Arco.
The polyols are expected to enhance urethane coating, adhesive, sealant and elastomer applications - or CASE applications, the firm said.
