WASHINGTON - Martin Stark, president of Bekum America Corp., a blow molding equipment supplier based in Williamston, Mich., was elected chairman of the Machinery Division of the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. Stark was elected at the division's fall business meeting, which was held Nov. 7 in Alexandria, Va.
SPI, headquartered in Washington, said new officers will serve two-year terms, beginning June 1.
Elected vice chairman was E. Niles Kenyon, president of Conair Group, a Pittsburgh-based auxiliary machinery manufacturer.
SPI announced the appointment of the following section chairmen:
Auxiliary Section. Thomas Valentine, vice president of the auxiliary equipment manufacturer Mokon Division of Protective Closures Co. Inc., headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y.
Blow Molding Section. Dale Werle, general manager of blow molding at Cincinnati Milacron Inc.'s Plastics Machinery Group in Batavia, Ohio.
Extrusion Section. Hayes Stripling, Cincinnati Milacron's product manager of single-screw extruders and systems at the Plastic Extrusion Systems Business, which is headquartered in Cincinnati.
Machinery Components Section. Martin Davis, chairman of Westland Corp., based in Wichita, Kan. The company manufactures screws and barrels.
The Machinery Division also elected Ed McGrady, who is vice president of manufacturing at the Davis-Standard Division of Crompton & Knowles Corp., as the division's representative to the Standards Steering Committee.
Davis-Standard, which is based in Pawcatuck, Conn., manufactures extrusion systems and other equipment.
Don Gruenberg, president of Thermal Care, an auxiliary equipment manufacturer located in Niles, Ill., was picked to represent the Machinery Division on SPI's board of directors.
