DAYTON, OHIO - Alpha Mold Inc. of Dayton recently purchased 11 acres in Huber Heights, Ohio, to build a 50,000-square-foot mold-making facility. Groundbreaking will be March 1. Alpha Mold President David R. Staub said the firm plans to move into the new plant by Dec. 1. Staub said the current 31,000-square-foot facility has been expanded four times. With company growth dictating still more space, Staub decided it is time for a new plant on enough acreage to allow future expansions.
Huber Heights gave Alpha Mold a tax-abatement package that includes a provision stating that Alpha Mold's taxes will not increase as it improves the property, and it will not be taxed on improvements for 15 years.
Alpha Mold, a custom mold maker for a variety of industries, employs 66. Staub expects to add 30-35 people after about one year in the new facility.
Alpha Mold offers com-puter-aided design and manufacturing for molds using EDS Unigraphics II, Cadkey 3-Dimensional CAD and PRO Engineer Solid Modeler software. The company also has mold-tryout capabilities in its four injection molding presses, which have clamping forces of 75-500 tons.
Staub said Alpha completed its pre-audit to receive ISO 9001 certification in January.
