SIMPSONVILLE, S.C.-Cryovac Division of W.R. Grace & Co. will spend $5 million to add to its Simpsonville plant to accommodate increased production of its HS 3000 film. Chuck Jolley, a spokesman for the Duncan, S.C.-based company, said the addition should be completed this year.
The film is used largely in ``chub'' packaging for meat products.
HS 3000 is a multilayer, coextruded, flat film developed for high-speed, automated packaging, especially the form-fill-seal type of tubes for ground meat. It is available in clear or printed versions for greater brand identification.
Jolley would not discuss how many extruders will be added to the plant, which already produces HS 3000, but said that the plant expansion was part of a worldwide construction, expansion and updating program instituted by the company last year.
