CHICAGO - Rubbermaid Inc. projects the do-it-yourself market to grow by 25 percent over the next five years. ``This is a generation of affluent, self-reliant DIYers, and as they move toward maturity, it is creating a terrific opportunity for the astute retailer,'' said Jim Dehner, group product manager for hardware products.
Rubbermaid has planned promotions throughout 1996 to help retailers reach the DIY market.
The Wooster, Ohio, firm also said home organization will remain one of the fastest-growing housewares segments.
``People need organization ... because organization saves time. And large containers are more efficient,'' said Michael Best, group product manager.
