Artistic Plastics Inc., a custom injection molder in Anaheim, Calif., is consolidating its operations from two buildings into one larger facility nearby. Dennis Chadwick, vice president of the family-owned molding and mold-making firm, said the leased, 35,000-square-foot building will provide room for expansion. Artistic plans to keep the two buildings, which now house Artistic's molding and mold-design and build facilities.
The move will take place in mid-March. Operations in the new plant will start in April.
Artistic added three presses during the past year; the most recent is a 600-ton Toshiba. Presses now range from 40-600 tons clamping force.
Plans call for the company to expand its secondary operations with additional capabilities in hot stamping, sonic welding, silk screening and assembly. Chadwick said the company will add five more molding presses over the next two years.
``We had to expand. There's so much competition out there that we have to stay ahead of the game in value-added services and quality,'' said Chadwick.
Chadwick said Artistic will also install Windows-based manufacturing software, and hopes to obtain ISO 9001 certification by January 1997. Artistic serves the pump, home appliance and computer industries and employs 80.
