DETROIT-The Detroit Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers has invited a group of European experts to a meeting March 4 in Troy, Mich., to discuss the latest advances in low-pressure molding technology. Low-pressure molding, increasingly used in the automotive and furniture industries, combines molten plastic with textiles and films to produce a single, molded part. Automakers and parts suppliers, for example, are using the process to make interior door trim panels.
Speakers, drawn from German and Swiss firms, will discuss low-pressure tooling and processing techniques, SPE said. The meeting will also feature displays of products molded with low-pressure technology and exhibits by suppliers in the field.
