ANAHEIM, CALIF. - With a third of its business now in medical manufacturing, Contour Plastics Inc. has tripled its floor space at its 2-year-old Baldwin, Wis., facility, with an eye toward eventually expanding its injection molding capacity, a top official said. Barry Grant, Contour vice president, said the original, 13,000-square-foot building held 10 machines with clamping forces of 66-330 tons. The latest expansion, to 46,000 square feet, means the company will have the capability to house 22 machines as part of an aggressive, three-year expansion program. The company now employs 40, but will expand to 60, he said.
There is more room to expand on the firm's lot, Grant said at Medical Design & Manufacturing West. It probably will add tooling and manufacturing capacity. He declined to reveal expansion investment or sales figures for the private firm.
