DALLAS - Fina Oil & Chemical Co. of Dallas has started engineering a new high density polyethylene facility to add 400 million pounds of capacity. Fina said in a prepared statement that the facility nearly will double its HDPE production capacity of 420 million pounds.
Bill Loubiere, general manager for HDPE products, said Fina has not decided where to build its new production line.
The company also has not decided which process it will use, he said.
In a Feb. 9 telephone interview from his office in Dallas, H. Patrick Jack, vice president for chemicals, said debottlenecking projects that are under way will increase Fina's production capacity to 450 million pounds a year. The company then will have 850 million pounds of HDPE capacity after the new line is built.
