BURLINGAME, CALIF.-A government-operated plant in Russia will begin filament winding high-pressure, downhole casing and line pipe with a $3 million turnkey operation from Engineering Technology Inc. In the next two weeks, EnTec is to complete transferring technology that will allow the former defense facility to make the casing and pipe of E-glass and epoxy resin for use in extracting and transporting oil reserves.
The equipment was in-stalled in October in the plant in Kazan, in the Republic of Tatarstan.
However, the operator had difficulty lining up raw material sources, Bill Rose, Eastern area sales manager for EnTec, said in an interview at the Wilson Forum.
EnTec, based in Salt Lake City, employs 75.
Foreign customers accounted for about 65 percent of 1995 sales.
