SAN DIEGO - The Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. is targeting fabricators of fiber-reinforced plastics in a special session May 10 at its annual Western Section conference in San Diego. ``Obviously the magic word is regulation,'' said Frank A. Cassis, who spearheaded the program. ``Composite fabrication has been in the spotlight in recent years primarily because of [volatile organic compound] emissions that can affect air quality and the work environment.
Many of these regulations can be detrimental to business growth, and fabricators need to know how to deal with these and other issues that affect their business, Cassis added.
Other topics that will be addressed include Environmental Protection Agency Title V permits, description and use of low-emission processes and opportunities for emission reduction and control through material modification.
Cost for the full-day seminar including lunch is $200. For more information call Cassis at (909) 985-5224. To receive registration information via fax, call (800) 774-4614 ext. 2741.
