NITRO, W.VA. - Industrial container firm Russell-Stanley Corp. has expanded to add a new product to its Nitro plastic drum plant. John Priesing, chairman and chief executive officer of the Red Bank, N.J.-based firm, said 15,000 square feet of space was added to the 40,000-square-foot Nitro facility to accommodate installation of a line to produce 55-gallon open-head drums.
``This is a new product for us,'' Priesing said. ``Up to now we have just made tight or sealed-head drums there.''
The firm makes both steel and plastic drums. Its high density polyethylene drums are used for industrial and agricultural chemicals, food, automotive products and pharmaceuticals.
Russell-Stanley was 25th in Plastic News' 1995 ranking of North American blow molders, with $50 million in annual sales.
