CONCORD, ONTARIO-Corma Inc. says its new process can make flexible, double-wall corrugated plastic tubing with a smooth internal bore as small as 0.394 inch in diameter. The Concord, firm claimed such small tubing previously was possible only for single-wall tubing.
Key to the Corma process is a new extruder die that has a conventional spider die-head and a single channel for the plastic from the die-head. Corma supplies production systems for a range of polyolefins and flexible PVC at speeds as great as 33 feet per minute.
Corma said double-wall tubing provides better fluid flow, reduced noise levels and possibility of blockage, and more longitudinal strength than single-wall tubing.
