BOCA RATON, FLA. - A newly created, publicly held firm has acquired two plastic lumber makers, and has a goal of becoming the No. 1 U.S. producer of plastic lumber. U.S. Plastic Lumber Co. in Boca Raton purchased Earth Care Global Holdings Inc., which has a plant in Sharon, Tenn., and last week bought Duratech Industries in Lake Odessa, Mich. Duratech will do business as Earth Care Products of the Midwest. Terms were not disclosed. In addition to the two recently acquired plants, the firm has a facility under construction in Camden, N.J.
Anthony Taddonio, investor relations director for Earth Care Products, said the newly combined firms have capacity to produce about 20 million pounds of plastic per year. U.S. Plastic Lumber has issued $1 million in stock. Taddonio declined to say what further expansions or acquisitions might be planned.
