SolarActive division of Hatteras Enterprises Inc. now distributes masterbatches that change from colorless to bright colors when exposed to ultraviolet rays. SolarActive of Sherman Oaks, Calif., said Sunny Color masterbatches have a photochromic dyestuff that reverts to a colorless state when removed from the UV source. It has masterbatches in polypropylene, polyethylene, polyurethane and PVC. Each comes with a dyestuff that turns purple, blue, yellow or violet. SolarActive distributes the products for Sunny Color USA of Los Angeles.

Enerpac system aids mold changeovers
Enerpac Automation Systems says its new manual clamping system is a low-cost way to simplify mold changeovers on injection presses of up to 300 tons.
The QMC system uses a simple handle movement that locks the centering ring adapter in the clamping plate. Processors can fit the system's centering ring adapt-ers to each mold half, according to the Butler, Wis., unit of Applied Power Inc.

Ciba improves line of Bisphenol F resin
Ciba Matrix Systems improved two of its bisphenol F products to allow more formulating options with other resins. Their low viscosity makes them compatible with materials with a wide range of viscosities. The Brewster, N.Y., firm renamed them Araldite GY 282 (formerly LY 9703) and Aral-dite GY 285 (formerly PY 306).

Clarifying agents win food OK for Europe
Milliken Chemical's Millad 3988 clarifiying agents were approved by the European Scientific Com-mittee for food. The approval is the last major one in the world for the polypropylene additives, said Spartanburg, S.C.-based Milliken, which introduced them in 1994.

ICI film can cut costs in hot foil stamping
ICI Films introduced an intermediate-gloss polyester film for hot foil stamping for appliance, auto and other applications. The Wilmington, Del., firm said Meli-nex 376 can cut costs when it re-places glossy films that are chemically treated to get a matte finish.
