BROOKFIELD, CONN. - The Society of Plastics Engineers has announced the winner of its top honor, the 1996 International Award: Robert S. Langer, professor of chemical and biomedical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. SPE will honor Langer and other winners this week during the society's Annual Technical Conference in Indianapolis.
At last year's ANTEC, Langer won the John W. Hyatt Award for service to mankind. Brookfield-based SPE announced the other winners:
*John W. Hyatt Award, to Dean Kamen, founder and president of the medical products firm Deka Research and Development Corp. in Manchester, N.H.
*Engineering and Technology Award, to Geoffrey Boothroyd and Peter Dewhurst, both engineering professors at the Univer-sity of Rhode Island and owners of Boothroyd Dewhurst Inc. of Wakefield, R.I.
*Education Award, to Jack L. Koenig, a professor at Case Western Reserve University.
*Business Management Award, to Robert Schad, founder and president of Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. of Bolton, Ontario.
*Research Award, to Isaac Sanchez, a professor in the Department of Chemical Engi-neering at the University of Austin at Texas.
