BUFFALO, N.Y. - Thomas F. Honney, the president of Colgate South in Sanford, N.C., died March 24 in Buffalo General Hospital. He was 66. Honney became president in 1990 of Colgate South, a division of Colgate Plastics Corp., based in Buffalo.
He began his career in Boston and San Francisco with Cryovac Corp. He later acquired Colgate Plastics Corp. in 1981 after holding general management positions in Container Corp. of America in Philadelphia, New York and St. Louis.
Colgate Plastics Corp. consisted of a north and south plant. The north plant, based in Buffalo, closed in 1992.
Honney had spent several weeks in the hospital following spine surgery. He died from septic shock, stemming from an infection.
Honney, a native of Northampton, Mass., graduated from the University of Massachusetts and received his master's degree from Cornell University. He also served in the Army for two years.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; a son, John; and a daughter, Jennifer.
