COVINA, CALIF. - Mold maker Caco Pacific Corp. of Covina is offering a new product it says increases the efficiency of molding multicolor or multimaterial parts. The patented MRP-500 mold rotating plate rotates the ejector half of the mold so that the cores holding parts molded in the previous cycle are positioned in line with the cavity for the next color or material. Then the mold is closed and molding continues over the product of the previous cycle.
The MRP-500 mounts to the moving platen of the machine on which the ejector half of the mold is installed. The plate is a servo motor, gear-driven device that can be program-med to any angle, to accommodate various types of molds or materials.
An optical encoder mounted to an extended shaft at the back end of the motor ensures the unit's positional accuracy, and is compatible with both hydraulic and electric molding machines and clean room environments.
