DRACUT, MASS. - A. Routsis Associates Inc. of Dracut has released its new interactive CD-ROM training program for injection molders, a three-CD set that features advanced computer animation. Users can learn about injection molding through full-motion, full-screen video, through a computer. An audio voice asks questions and gives possible answers. The three CDs are:
``The "Injection Molding Machine,'' which describes machine parts and machine cycle, explains procedures for starting and shutting down the machine and identifies control parameters used to create the best molding cycle.
``The "Injection Molding Process,'' which shows how plastic flows through the process and demonstrates troubleshooting methods to solve common problems.
``"Injection Molds,'' which identifies mold components, describes various cooling methods and gate configurations, and explains basic machining techniques used in mold construction.
The three-CD set costs $2,497. Routsis offers a free demonstration CD ROM.
The training-products company plans to release 15 more CD ROM titles this year, priced at about $800 per title.
Routsis also announced one of its videotape series is available in Spanish. The three-tape series explains the basics of injection molding.
The series includes a workbook, instructors' guide and a study guide. Cost is $1,497.
Routsis said the English version of the series is used in more than 800 manufacturing plants worldwide.
