WHEATON, ILL. - Plastofilm Industries Inc. offers thermoformed compact disc packages that contain less raw material, and are 30 percent lighter, than widely used injection molded jewel boxes. Plastofilm produces one design for 31/2-inch CD-ROMs and two versions for 5-inch CDs using any of its three types of high-speed roll-feed formers with inline cuttings. The firm processes PVC, PET and glycol-modified PET. In addition, the 5-inch design comes as a clamshell. Plasto-film has be-gun production at its Wheaton, Ill., facility, and also plans to make the packages at its plants in Sparks, Nev., and Enniskillen, Ireland.
