CORONADO, CALIF. - Rosetta Miller and William Wetz received Distinguished Service Awards at the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc.'s Western Section conference, held May 9-11 in Coronado. Miller, with more than 25 years in the plastics industry, served as president of the Society of Plastics Engi-neers' Southern California Sec-tion in 1981-82. She also was president of the Southern Cali-fornia Chapter of the Western Section of SPI in 1993 and 1994.
Besides her sales responsibilities for RTP Co., a custom compounder of thermoplastic resins, Miller continues to serve the industry on various committees of the SPI's Western Section.
Wetz is co-owner of Wetz & Co. Inc. in Philomath, Ore. He also was presented with the SPE Distinguished Service Award. Wetz has more than 35 years in the plastics industry.
He worked for Dow Chemical Co. for 11 years in research and development, and plant engineering and management. His name appears on many patents for extrusion and co-extrusion processes.
Before starting his company in 1988, he worked as plant manager for Gage Industries from 1972-76.
He later was a sales manager for Quality Plastics in Newberg, Ore.
Wetz is past president of the SPI, Northwest Chapter. From 1985-90, he served as chairman for the Oregon Plastics Industry political action committee. In 1988, he served as general chairman for the SPI Western Section Conference, and as chairman in 1994/1995.
