DASMARINAS, PHILIPPINES - Three Japanese plastics companies have begun operations in Philip-pine industrial economic zones. Taiyo Plastics Corp. of Dasma-rinas, a unit of Tokan Kogyo Group of Tokyo, has set up a factory to make automotive parts, faces for audio equipment, and consumer items such as plastic bottle caps. The firm has brought in injection molding and tooling equipment. Most of its products will be exported to Fujitsu Co. Ltd. of Tokyo. The plant is estimated to cost 80 million pesos ($3.07 million).
Cavite Nagano Seiko, the Philippine unit of Nagano Group of Tokyo, will make aluminum die-cast molds for car parts at its factory in Dasmarinas. It is targeting sales of 30 million pesos ($1.15 million) its first year.
The third firm is Philippine Mansho, which is making ashtrays for Nissan. The firm's factory in Dasmarinas expects sales of 3 million pesos ($115,000) in its first year of operations.
