TIJUANA, MEXICO-Kyomex SA de CV, a Mexican molder of plastic television cabinets and computer-related housings, is looking for a second Baja California site near its Tijuana facility or in Mexicali. ``We have already expanded to 113,000 square feet here, and we're almost full,'' said Michisuke Araki, executive vice president and general manager.
Kyomex operates 18 injection molding machines with clamping forces of 60-1,300 tons, and plans to add two more this year with 1,300 and 650 tons.
Kyomex customers include Sony Electronics Inc., Hitatchi Home Electronics (America) Inc., JVC and Canon business ma-chines.
Kyomex employs 460, up from about 325 a year ago.
Kyomex is the maquiladora operation of Kyowa America Corp., a unit of Kyowa Electric and Chemical Corp. of Tokyo.
Kyowa America, Sony's largest custom molder, employs 370 at molding facilities in Costa Mesa and Irvine, Calif., and 116 at an operation in Pittsburgh.
