Hehr International Inc. purchased certain assets of Poly-urethane Design Division of EniChem America Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Hehr, a manufacturer of window, glass and related vehicular products, acquired production machinery and equipment, proprietary patents on various polymers and other rights from PDD.
Conyers, Ga.-based PDD, now operating under the name Hehr International Polymers, blends chemicals for the production of PU. The firm then can supply the raw material to manufacturers, which in turn will serve Hehr's automotive products.
Hehr uses the reaction injection molding process, said spokesman Michael Canzo-neri. He explained that with the March 14 acquisition, Hehr will be able to supply products to itself. He added that quite a bit of the product will end up in the automotive industry and especially in window manufacturing applications.
Canzoneri said the former PDD facility has ``a little more than 10'' employees. A news release stated Hehr and former PDD personnel will continue to operate the firm. Los Angeles-based Hehr International will operate Hehr International Polymers in the Atlanta area.
