INDIANAPOLIS-Compression Inc., an Indianapolis design and engineering firm, recently purchased a Cubital Solider 5600 rapid prototyping system from Cubital America Inc. The system quickly transforms computerized design files into three-dimensional models using a process called solid ground curing.
SGC builds parts, layer by layer, using liquid plastic resins that solidify when exposed to ultraviolet light.
The 5600 will provide Com-pression with faster turnaround times and higher throughput capacity.
With the new equipment, Compression now has 12 rapid prototyping machines, including nine Sinterstation systems from DTM Corp., an SLA 500 system from 3-D Systems and an FDM1600 system from Stratasys.
The company employs more than 200 at five U.S. sites.
