MINNEAPOLIS - Hosokawa Bepex Corp. will expand its solid stating engineering services for resin suppliers when it opens its new $3 million PolyQuest development center in Minneapolis on June 13. Hosokawa Bepex Vice President John Walsh said the center will allow his firm and customers to engineer upstream factors that affect properties of polymers that go through a solid stating or solvent removal process. The center likely will focus on PET resins but it also will work with producers of polyolefins, polycarbonate and nylon, he said.
Customers will be able to test changes in process variables on a small scale at the PolyQuest center and produce enough material for test market studies. Firms can test equipment modifications before adopting them on a commercial scale.
Hosokawa Bepex and sister firms have supplied more than 100 production lines for solid stating and related operations at resin operations. Hosokawa Be-pex is a subsidiary of Hosokawa Micron International Inc. of New York.
