A 333-home housing development near San Diego marks the first tract production use of foam-core, R-Control panels, according to AFM Corp. AFM of Excelsior, Minn., is an affiliation of 20 companies that make expanded polystyrene insulation products, marketed under common names.
One product, the R-Control panel, is an expanded PS board sandwiched between plywood boards.
Wall panels for the Crown Hill development in Alpine, Calif., are being made by AFM-member company Premier Building Systems of Phoenix, a division of Premier Industries Inc.
Structural foam panels also gained a high-profile project in Atlanta. AFM member Allied Foam Products of Gainesville, Ga., supplied the panels for the Southface Energy and Environ-mental Resource Center in Atlanta. The 4,000-square-foot structure will demonstrate energy-efficient building products through a reduction of infiltration and exfiltration of air.
The center is scheduled to open this summer.
