PORTAGE, WIS. - Citing stronger demand, pallet thermoformer TriEnda Corp. has called back to work 16 of the 90 employees it laid off earlier this year. The firm blamed the March layoffs on the decision by a key customer, the U.S. Postal Service, to delay buying new plastic pallets until next year. TriEnda has made several hundred thousand postal pallets. But business picked up for other types of pallets, said Tom Drury, vice president of quality and human resources.
``The trend is moving in the right direction,'' Drury said. ``We anticipated business to pick up and, in fact, that's what happened.''
TriEnda, based in Portage, recalled the workers on May 31.
