MONTGOMERYVILLE, PA. - Mont-gomeryville-based Spiraduct Inc., a tubing extruder, doubled the size of its plant to 30,000 square feet 10 months ago and will be adding an extrusion line in about three months. The rented space was added next to the older plant.
``As soon as the cement floor was walkable, we were in,'' said President Anthony Anselm. ``We couldn't put a chair down in the old building; we needed more space.''
Anselm said the company adds a new product line every nine to 10 months. Spiraduct ordered two tubing extrusion lines from Davis-Standard. The company will install one in the current plant, and the second in a larger facility in about 18 months. Anselm did not know where the relocation would be.
Spiraduct, which makes 20 million feet per year of flexible electrical/conduit tubing, industrial hoses and spa hoses from PVC, added four employees. The company runs three shifts and has a staff of 52.
Spiraduct injection molds the tube fittings from PVC, polyethylene, nylon and ethylene vinyl acetate. It has six injection presses -five with clamping forces of 50 tons and one at 80 tons. Anselm said Spiraduct has $1.5 million in fittings sales per year.
Spiraduct has 12 extrusion lines and reported extrusion sales of $4.5 million for the year ended April 30.
