ROSEMONT, ILL. - Italian blow molding machine maker Automa SpA plans to manufacture its machines in the United States within three to four years, Sergio Nanni, area manager for Automa, said at Plastics Fair Chicago. Nanni said he is ``99 percent'' certain the production will be in the Columbus, Ohio, area. Au-toma's U.S. office is in the Colum-bus suburb of Dublin, Ohio.
In January, Bologna-based Au-toma introduced its NSB 20 injection stretch blow molding ma-chine to North America and soon will make available a 10-liter, single-station blow molding machine.
The NSB 20 is a single-stage, three-station machine able to run as many as six cavities with a clamping force of 28 tons for blow molding work and 211/2 tons for injection molding.
The Plus AT 10 is also a single-stage machine with a global machine-control system and reflects a move up in size by Automa, Nanni said. The new series can blow mold containers up to 21/2 gallons.
