SAN JOSE, CALIF. - Remington Presentation & Documentation Packaging, a Vernon, Calif.-based company, has introduced a new thermoformed, lightweight mailer. Made of 20-gauge PVC, the product is designed for sending compact discs via the postal system.
After experimenting with different gauges of material, the company developed one that allows an entire package - CD, envelope and tray - to be delivered for less than the bulk mailing rate, said Catherine Breckenridge, Remington vice president of sales.
Currently the company is having the parts formed in a four-cavity mold. However, the product is doing so well in the market that Remington is building a 16-cavity mold, Breckenridge said at Replitech International 1996 in San Jose.
