WACO, TEXAS - Corona, Calif.-based Merrick Engineering Inc. plans to add a second, 600-ton injection molding press to the Waco manufacturing facility it opened six months ago. Bryan Bennett, chief financial officer for the company, a manufacturer of tubular hangers and closet storage shelving for discount retail outlets, said growth is strong in its markets in the Southeast and Midwest.
The company plans to add a 600-ton press about every quarter until it is able to meet market demand in the regions that plant serves, Bennett said.
Currently, Merrick operates out of a 24,000-square-foot, leased facility in Waco.
Bennett said the company plans to pick up the purchase option on the building within two years and expand the physical plant to accommodate expected growth.
The company employs about 35, but eventually will hire 60-100 employees.
