The extrusion die industry has another source for rework services with the opening of Allied Dies Inc. in Chippewa Falls, Wis. Vice President Bob W. DeVoe, one of six partners who formerly worked together at another extrusion die firm, said Allied moved into a newly built, 25,000-square-foot facility it leased with an option to buy. DeVoe declined to name the partners' former employer.
Together, the founding partners of Allied have 92 years of experience in the extrusion die industry. DeVoe said there were several reasons for the group's decision to start Allied, which opened April 1.
DeVoe and Brian M. Pitsch, Allied's president, both have engineering backgrounds. Other members of the team have a variety of production experience.
Allied Dies offers rework services that include basic reworks, manifold recuts, lip length modifications and lip adjustment retrofits for manufacturers of extruded plastic film and sheet.
The company installed numerous pieces of equipment, including a Mattison 120-inch surface grinder, a horizontal boring mill, a vertical mill and arm radial drill from Cincinnati Milacron, a lathe and 120-inch travel superfinisher.
