The reference in the Aug. 5 Viewpoint to CIT Group's prediction for 1991-93 plastics industry shipments growth should have said that CIT's forecast understated actual growth. Revised government data now shows that the compounded annual growth in real plastics shipments for that period grew 10 percent, compared with the forecast of 6.8 percent by CIT, a Livingston, N.J.-based finance and leasing company.
