MEXICO CITY - Plastics molders in Mexico are being targeted for possible joint venture projects by companies from Portugal. Of particular interest are alliances with small and medium-sized enterprises, said Guilherme Costa, president of Portugal's Institute of Trade and Tourism Investment.
Costa was part of a commercial delegation, led by Portugal's Economy Minister Augusto Mateos, that recently visited Mexico City.
For Portugal, Mexico remains attractive for investment, offering entry to the North American Free Trade Agreement area, and a bridge into Central and South America.
Portugal is one of the European Union member nations with the least trade with Mexico - a little more than US$100 million last year. Portugal hopes to raise that to US$2 billion in a few years.
